Frequently asked questions

What is LinkedIn Formatter?+

It's a free Chrome extension that lets you add bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and lists to your LinkedIn posts — which LinkedIn doesn't support natively.

How does the formatting actually work?+

LinkedIn has no rich-text in posts, so the extension replaces your letters with their typographic Unicode equivalents (Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols and combining marks). The text stays as real characters when you publish.

Which styles can I use?+

Serif and Sans-Serif bold, italic and bold-italic, plus underline, strikethrough, bulleted lists and numbered lists. You can also clear formatting back to plain text.

Will the formatting break on mobile or in notifications?+

Because it's standard Unicode, it renders consistently across LinkedIn web and mobile and most modern apps. A small number of older systems may show plain glyphs.

Is it free?+

Yes. LinkedIn Formatter is completely free to use.

Is my data safe?+

Everything runs locally in your browser. Drafts are stored in your browser's local storage and nothing is sent to any external server.

Does it save my drafts?+

Yes. Your post is auto-saved as you type and offered back for restore the next time you open the composer.

Which browsers are supported?+

Any Chromium-based browser that supports Manifest V3 extensions, including Google Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc.
